ReEthos from Japan Visits National Central University, Opening New Opportunities for International Collaboration

ReEthos, a Japanese organization dedicated to social entrepreneurship resources and exchanges, visited National Central University (NCU). This visit marks a four-year interval since the Yunus Social Business Center at NCU, together with the Taoyuan City Government Social Enterprise Center, visited the Misol social enterprise in Kyushu, Japan, in 2019.

On April 14, ReEthos representatives, including Executive Director Mr. Hisashi Fukuzawa and Ms. Yukioka Ono, along with a team of 12 board members and advisors, visited the Yunus Social Business Center at NCU for an exchange. ReEthos is an organization that provides resources and networking for social entrepreneurs. The relationship between ReEthos and NCU’s Yunus Social Business Center was established during the 2019 visit to Japanese social enterprises with the Taoyuan City Government Social Enterprise Center. At that time, Mr. Fukuzawa, as the president of Misol, hosted and introduced their social enterprise focused on addressing employment challenges for LGBTQ and other disadvantaged groups.

During this exchange, the recent developments and achievements of NCU’s Yunus Social Business Center were presented. The visit included a campus tour and meetings with Taoyuan social enterprise and social innovation promotion agencies, such as the Taoyuan City Youth Affairs Bureau, Taoyuan City Government Social Enterprise Center, NCU’s Industry-Academia Operation Center, and the Teaching Development Center. This allowed ReEthos to gain a deeper understanding of NCU and Taoyuan's diverse social enterprise and innovation landscape. ReEthos expressed strong support for the initiatives observed and engaged in a meaningful exchange of questions and perspectives.

To welcome the visitors and express gratitude for their previous hospitality, Professor Jianwen Shen, Director of the Center, arranged a roundtable discussion featuring Taoyuan’s Hakka cultural elements to conclude the visit. This exchange not only deepened mutual understanding but also opened up new possibilities for future collaboration, potentially bringing new opportunities for international cooperation and further development for both parties.
